Highway and Transport Eng. Department/College of Engineering/Al-Mustansiriya University
Abstract
—The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) was used in measuring the thickness of the pavement layers at Al Kut-Baghdad rural highway, 800 MHz antenna was used in scanning the selected highway section. According to the processed GPR data, the selected pavement consists of asphaltic layers with total thickness (26-29 cm) and a sub-base layer with thickness (36-42 cm). Three-cored sample of asphalt are taken from the selected highway pavement section in order to evaluate the accuracy of the GPR results. By comparing the GPR results with the cored samples, the accuracy of the GPR results is (95.2%).
